Monica is the founder and former editor of Exhale.
Once upon a time as a Peace Corps volunteer in Uzbekistan, Monica fell madly in love with a guy named Kevin. Now, nearly seven years of marriage later, Monica has been 3x knocked up & down. Her life is almost as thrilling as that of her 8-month stillborn son Zachary and 4-month male fetus (a.k.a. Male Fetus), who are living the high life in the Mad Cool Penthouse for Bitchin’ Stillborn Babes. Monica earned her M.A. in English at UW-Milwaukee, is a writing faculty member at Highline Community College, blogs at Knocked Up, Knocked Down, and is currently writing a humorous memoir. She lives and travels with her hero husband Kevin.
Her work has been published in Reality Mom, Hip Mama, Kota Press Compassion Journal, and Mamazine.
Besides her enormous efforts in editing, publishing, collecting, and constructing this magazine, Monica’s written contributions to Exhale are:
The Adoption Option: So Damed Easy, Everyone Should Do It (Volume 1, Issue 1)
Feeling Motherly (Volume 1, Issue 2)
An Expired Carte Blanche (Volume 1, Issue 3)
Folk Music Series: 1 of 4 (Volume 1, Issue 6)
A Strange Kind of Daddyhood (Volume 1, Issue 7)
Monica’s husband, Kevin LeMoine has also contributed to Exhale behind the scenes with support and his writing.
