The (rhetorically optimistic) founder of Adventures in Fatherland, Paul’s been happily married for over a decade and leading the prototypical lifestyle of an upwardly-mobile, middle-class American couple. Yet despite the trappings of white picket fence bliss, Paul and his wife have been unsuccessful in having a child. In an attempt to remedy their situation, they’ve begun what Paul calls “The Long Fuck.” You probably know it as In Vitro Fertilization (IVF): a chemically-induced, surgically-assisted, and monetarily-depleting journey to reach parenthood.
