-Poem: Issac by Abigail W.

Your name means laughter

You were conceived with laughter
Rugburn on the knees
Sparks in the fireplace
Hard to keep balanced
Far too much wine
It is never a graceful act

You were carried with laughter
Hundreds of altoids to fight the nausea
So much like your father already
Jumping on my bladder when there’s a line
Kicks that hit ticklish spots
Dancing with me to disco

You were born into laughter
Bewildered nurses
Midnight-black hospital jokes
Wonder at your silent, perfect face
Is that my lower lip?
Of course its his nose

You have been mourned with laughter
Deadbaby jokes
Dunken revelry
Our families united
Nothing as bad as it used to be
Gratitude that you came

You were named for laughter
You were made of laughter
You are in every laugh
Forever.
