April showers bring May flowers, new tender leaf buds, and twitterpated woodland creatures. Spring is full of rites and rituals centered on activities to prepare the land and plant seeds and tender plants in the hopes of a bountiful autumn harvest. We bring some of this energy into our homes as we open windows, air out blankets and rugs, wipe away dust, polish glass and furniture until it shines.

There is some ancient association of Spring with fertility and new life — an association that never fails to go unnoticed to those of us coping with infertility issues and loss. With that in mind, we are calling for photo, art, poetry, and prose on the theme of Rituals, Rites, and Superstitions.

Submissions must be received by March 15th and can be sent to submissions@exhalezine.com.

Please review our submission guidelines.

For those of you who are regular readers of Exhale, you may notice a bit of a change. The New Year — and the end 2009– has been full of changes.

Something that may not be as obvious is the behind-the-scenes changes at Exhale. We are both inwardly saddened and outwardly thrilled to report that Monica LeMoine (Founder and Editor-in-Chief) is on to tackle new challenges. We would like to thank Monica for her dedication and perseverance in creating this amazing community, as well as wish her luck and love in all her new pursuits.

Another change you have probably noticed is the appearance of Exhale. We’ve switched to a different hosting site and layout. I’ll spare you the techy stuff, but we are still working through some of the growing pains, including doing our best to make searching and retrieving archives easier. Please let us know if you come across any glitches or have a suggestion for improvement by emailing admin@exhalezine.com
